CONGRATULATIONS! You are visiting this site as you are pregnant and are about to embark on your amazing journey into parenthood.
I am here to support your needs during pregnancy, birth and into that first year of parenthood.
I want to be able to support you throughout your pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey.
As a mum of two, I have been in where you are know - beginning that journey and looking for someone to support me along the way
You may have heard of hypnobirthing, but don't know much about it. Perhaps you think it is a bit hippy-dippy or don't know how it can help you.
Let me assure you, I studied the exact hypnobirthing techniques which I now teach for my own births and I am so thankful to them for enabling me to have positive experiences with both of my children. Hypnobirthing is also based on the science of neurobiology - so if your birthing partner is sceptical, I often emphasise this side of it.
Society is geared up to make us nervous about birth or to make it a topic which is not talked about. So perhaps you are feeling anxious about giving birth and want to try anything to change these feelings. Hypnobirthing allows us to embrace the process, cherish it and shout about it from the rooftops. Hypnobirthing will allow you to feel calm and informed of your choices. It will give you the confidence to make choices which are right for you and your baby and most of all it can even allow you to enjoy birth. I know I certainly enjoyed mine and I care that more birthing people and their partners get to experience a positive birth, no matter how that may look and no matter the outcome.
I offer private or group hypnobirthing classes in Aberdeen and online.
Unfortunately, I suffered from postnatal depressions after the birth of my daughter in 2017. It was during this time that I realised I had not prepared for life with a baby, I had only prepared for birth. I felt overwhelmed by motherhood and didn't feel like I had thought of any possible obstacles to a calm and confident first year of parenthood.
I am truly passionate about birthing people and their families feeling supported, heard and understood throughout their parenting journey.
When I sought support I found that postnatal support in Aberdeen was lacking. There was some support but it was very limited and often did not incorporate emotional support or support for mental health and wellbeing.
If you are pregnant and haven't thought about what to expect in those first few months, then this is the time to start.
Postnatal support can be in person, in your own home.
Or if you are looking for emotional and informational support it can also be done online.
Having studied these hypnobirthing techniques for my own births I can testify to their positive outcomes. Hypnobirthing techniques will allow you to process anxieties about birth, feel confident in your body and trust in your body's natural ability to birth your baby. The course provided is 'Mindful Hypnobirthing' founded and devised by Sophie Fletcher. Classes are held virtually or in Aberdeen.
This is the companion course to 'Mindful Hypnobirthing'. This is a postnatal preparation class which enables you to feel calm and confident in your first year of motherhood. This course was also devised by Sophie Fletcher, The founder of 'Mindful Mamma'. This course helps provide you with the tools and techniques for the physical, emotional and practical challenges of the first year of motherhood. Classes are held virtually and in Aberdeen.
As someone who struggled with postnatal depression, I am passionate about providing emotional and practical support to new mums. A postnatal doula is a companion or guide to new mums and families and can offer a range of services such as: a listening and supportive ear, feeding support, household chores, signposting you to further services and information. I am currently doing my training. So keep checking back for updates on the services I offer. Services will be available online or in Aberdeen and wider areas of Scotland on request.
